AppPocket is a free browser extension that turns the App Store into your research library. Save any app from an App Store page in one click, group it by project, and let AppPocket record what changes — version, rating, price or reviews.

It covers apps on the App Store, including iOS, macOS and app extensions. Everything you save, group or write stays in your own browser; no account required.

In one sentence: bookmarks don’t update themselves. AppPocket does.

What AppPocket Does

Collect: save apps from the App Store

When you open an app’s detail page on the App Store, a save button appears in the top-right corner — one click adds it to your library. You can also save from App Store list and chart pages, or by pasting an app link. If a teammate sends you a share code, import a whole set of apps at once instead of searching for each one.

Organize: group by project and compare

Create groups to keep competitors, look-alikes and references apart. Drag an app to another group or move a batch at once. Apps in the same group can be compared side by side on their specs, showing only the fields that actually differ. You can also group saved apps by developer to see what else they have shipped and how it performs in other regions.

Track: version history, ratings, prices and reviews

Saved apps are checked automatically, every 6 hours by default. Apps you open often are checked more frequently; ones that rarely change slow down on their own. Every change leaves a record, and you can review the trend over the past week, month or year.

All versions sit on one timeline: how many releases in total, the average interval between them, how many shipped in the last year, and what the latest update said. Rating, price and review changes go into the same record.

Research: reviews, in-app purchases and screenshots in one place

Read reviews for every app in a group — star rating, review text and developer replies. Filter good and bad reviews, and export them to a spreadsheet. In-app purchase items and prices are listed per app, along with the pricing structure of the whole group: subscriptions, one-time purchases and the price range distribution.

Browse screenshots by device type, with a full-size slideshow, original image download and preview video playback. Write notes on anything — reviews, versions, screenshots, in-app purchases, developers — and find them all in “My Notes”, with search and filtering.

Common Workflows

1. Watch a set of competitors’ release cadence

Create a group and add the apps in your category — a share code imports them in one go. Come back once a week and open the release timeline. You can see who ships often, who has gone quiet, and what the latest update changed.

2. Mine reviews for unmet needs

Open the review view for a group, filter to negative reviews first to see what users keep complaining about, then switch to positive ones to see which features get praised. Write a note on any review that matters, then export the list to a spreadsheet.

3. Study pricing and in-app purchases

Put competing apps in one group and compare their in-app purchase items and price ranges: who sells subscriptions, who sells one-time unlocks, and where the price bands sit. Record the conclusion right on the app or purchase item.

App Store Research: Why an Extension Instead of Bookmarks or a Spreadsheet

AppPocket Browser bookmarks Spreadsheet
Saving apps One click One click Manual entry
Version / rating / price changes Recorded automatically Not recorded Updated by hand
Group and compare by project Built in Folders only, no comparison You build the table
Read and export reviews Built in Not supported Copy by hand
Moving to a new computer Encrypted backup Follows browser account Manual transfer

Bookmarks keep the link, but they won’t tell you that an app raised its price, dropped in rating, or shipped a new version. AppPocket fills that gap: it turns “saved” into a dated record of change.

Privacy and Your Data

Bookmarks, groups and notes are stored in your own browser. No account registration, and nothing is uploaded to our servers.

App names, icons, screenshots, ratings and reviews come from publicly visible App Store pages; those requests go directly from your browser to Apple, not through us. You can export an encrypted backup at any time and restore it on another computer.

FAQ

Is AppPocket free?

Yes — free forever, with no paid plan.

Does it support Google Play?

No. AppPocket currently works with the Apple App Store only, covering iOS, macOS and app extensions.

Do I need an account?

No. Install it and start using it.

Where is my data stored? What happens when I switch computers?

In your own browser, locally. Export an encrypted backup in settings and restore it on the new machine.

How often are apps checked for updates?

Every 6 hours by default. Apps you open often are checked more frequently; ones that rarely change slow down over time.

Can I export App Store reviews?

Yes. Filter for positive or negative reviews inside a group and export them to a spreadsheet.

How is this different from a browser bookmark?

A bookmark only saves the link and never changes. AppPocket keeps tracking version, rating, price and reviews, and stores the history.

Which browsers are supported?

Chrome and Edge.
