TianTian Chengyu
Learn Chinese idioms one at a time, then keep them with spaced repetition — offline, no account, no ads.
One idiom a day, and the ones you keep forgetting.
TianTian Chengyu (天天成语) is an app for learning Chinese idioms — chengyu — without turning it into a project. You pick a word list, work through it idiom by idiom, and the app brings back whatever is about to slip away. No account, no cloud, no ads: everything runs on your phone and works offline.
In one sentence: a quiet, offline companion for anyone who needs chengyu for an exam — or simply wants to stop mixing up 不以为然 and 不以为意.

What You Can Do
Learn: one idiom at a time
Each list opens as a shelf you work through entry by entry — the idiom, what it means, and how it is used. No endless scrolling feed, no random quiz before you have seen the word once.
Review: spaced repetition, not cramming
Review is scheduled with an Anki-style spaced repetition algorithm: an idiom you just learned comes back soon, one you keep getting right drifts further into the future. The point is to spend your minutes on the idioms that are actually fading.
Practice: a daily idiom
A single idiom is served up every day. It is a small habit, but it is the one that keeps the whole set warm.
Choose your lists
The app ships with several idiom sets, and you add the ones you need to your shelf:
- Civil service exam idioms (行测)
- Common gaokao (college entrance exam) idioms
- Common zhongkao (high school entrance exam) idioms
- Commonly misused idioms
- Commonly confused idioms
See where you are
The home screen shows the lists you are currently studying and how far you have got, with one tap into review or practice — so you always know what to do next instead of choosing from scratch.
Who It Is For
- Anyone preparing for the civil service exam and facing the idiom section of 行测
- Students revising Chinese for the gaokao or zhongkao
- Learners of Chinese as a second language who want a structured idiom list
- Anyone who keeps confusing a handful of idioms and wants to finally separate them
FAQ
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no login and no cloud account. Install the app and start learning.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The word lists and your review schedule live on the device, so the app works with no connection at all.
Which idiom lists are included?
Civil service exam (行测), gaokao, zhongkao, plus commonly misused and commonly confused idioms. You add the ones you need to your shelf.
How does the review schedule work?
It uses a spaced repetition algorithm in the style of Anki: each idiom has its own next-review date, and correct answers push that date further out.
Where is my learning data stored?
On your device only. The app collects nothing and uploads nothing — see the privacy policy.
